I’m back after a bit of a blogging hiatus and I’ve definitely missed my corner of the interweb while I was away. However, I spent a lot of time with family over the Holidays and we had some great adventures that I’ll be sure to write about soon.
2017 is now in our rear-view mirror and 2018 has made its entrance. In my household, 2018 arrived with news that has shaken my foundation here at the Farmhouse. While I’ve had this post about finding joy in the imperfect planned for awhile, the news I received this week has shifted the tone a bit. I’ll get to meat of what the news is a little later. First, I’ll delve into what I had originally planned for this post and then how this week’s news fits into that.
A VERY Merry Christmas to all of our readers and subscribers from The Frugal Virginia Farmhouse! I hope you all have a warm and wonderful day full of quality family time, happiness, love and joy!
We are still recovering from a delightful trip together as a family and will be sharing pictures and trip stories very soon. Today we will be taking the day off to just enjoy each other’s company and relish in one more lovely holiday spent together as a family. I hope this day affords you the same!

When we bought the farmhouse, I didn’t quite get what the term “farmhouse kitchen” meant. After having been here for over 3 years and with as much time as I’ve spent in my kitchen, I more than know what the term means now! There are so many tools that I use in my kitchen on a daily basis that help me accomplish my goals of simplistic, frugal and (somewhat) self-sustainable living. I’ve compiled a sampling of some of my favorite items and am excited to share them with you below. In no particular order, here are some of the items that I can’t live without in my farmhouse kitchen.
